Q: Can you test for dyslexia?
A: We can offer a therapeutic assessment, which tells us where to start in the tutoring process. We can not offer a dyslexia diagnosis, which usually requires a neurologist and can cost thousands of dollars and can be inconclusive.
Q: Are there tools I can use at home to help?
A: We have a recommended list of reading tools that definitely help some students.
  • Writable Cards
  • Whisper Phones
  • Finger Highlighter
  • Blank Index Cards Punched with Ring
  • Guided Reading Color Strips
Q: Can you help with comprehension, spelling and vocabulary?
A: YES, we can focus our instruction for any and all of those. Although encoding (spelling) requires different skills and different parts of the brain than decoding (reading), they both follow the same rules. We're happy to work with you for all of it!
Q: How long is a session?
A: Our sessions are 45 minutes to 55 minutes, depending on the attention and ability of the student. Information about scheduling and cost is available on our Services page or feel free to reach out and ask- Contact Us!
Q: Do you take students with dysgraphia, ADHD, processing issues, etc.?
A: YES, we're happy to help anyone who needs help learning to read and write. We have more information about other conditions that can affect reading:
